NDRI webinar ‘answering key questions on naloxone’
NDRI is hosting a September webinar examining key issues around the use of naloxone to reverse the effects of opioid overdose.
A common barrier to take-home naloxone training implementation is the concern that people who use drugs will be more likely to engage in risky behaviours, termed risk compensation. In the first presentation, NDRI Research Fellow Dr Samantha Colledge-Frisby will outline recently-published research focused on answering whether take-home naloxone training leads to riskier drug use.
NDRI Research Associate Dr Seraina Agramunt will then present a summary of the main findings of an evaluation of the WA Police Force Naloxone Pilot. The evaluation examined the effectiveness of the first Australian trial of police naloxone carriage and use, conducted by the WA Police Force with the support of the Mental Health Commission.
