International report examines alcohol and brain health
NDRI Alcohol Policy Research Program Leader Professor Tanya Chikritzhs has co-authored a new international report examining the link between alcohol consumption and brain conditions.
Authored with medical and public health researchers from Canada, Sweden and the United States, ‘Alcohol and the Brain’ is a unique compilation of research on how alcohol affects the human brain throughout the life course.
Launched at the European Parliament in February, the report shows that brain health benefits from avoiding alcohol, that alcohol affects all brain functions, and alcohol consumption increases the risk of several brain diseases (e.g. dementia) and injuries.
