Emerging leader award for NDRI alcohol researcher
The upwards trajectory of NDRI alcohol researcher Dr William Gilmore’s academic career has continued with recognition in a grant scheme for emerging leaders.
Dr Gilmore received a Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund Emerging Leaders Award for his National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) funding application on addressing increasing alcohol harm in Australia’s ageing population.
The Fund’s WA Near Miss Awards: Emerging Leaders 2023 program is designed to support early and mid-career researchers who have narrowly missed out on a highly competitive NHMRC Investigators grant.
Dr Gilmore’s PhD research thesis was conferred in early 2023, receiving a Curtin University Chancellor’s Commendation and being “highly praised by the examiners who agreed that the research was of an exceptionally high standard”.
