NCETA workshops
Cannabis Workshop – Adelaide
NCETA, the South Australian Network of Drug and Alcohol Services (SANDAS) and the National Cannabis Prevention and Information Centre (NCPIC) conducted a half day cannabis training workshop in Adelaide on 1 May 2015. The workshop was attended by 30 frontline AOD, mental health and Aboriginal prisoner support workers. The aim of the workshop was to provide participants with information about:
- The latest evidence-based information and peer reviewed research on cannabis
- NCETA’s Cannabis Makes the Grade resource
- Strategies for screening clients and delivering a short intervention on cannabis.
Grant Writing Workshops
Professor Ann Roche delivered a grant writing workshop in Hobart in collaboration with the Alcohol, Tobacco & Other Drugs Council Tasmania. The workshop was based on the recently produced grant writing resource, FundAssist. The workshop aimed to help Tasmanian based non-government alcohol, tobacco and other drug treatment and support services use the FundAssist resource package and proactively build their capacity to prepare and plan for future funding applications.
The workshops provide information that supports organisations to:
- Communicate their goals and describe how these could be progressed
- Get grant ready by determining existing organisational capacity to respond to funding rounds and any skills that may need to be developed or acquired
- Get projects or workplans grant ready, including identifying objectives, methods and outcomes
Helpful tips are also provided in the resource to assist organisations to produce quality funding applications, such as persuasive writing, alcohol and other drug strategic alignment, and sourcing alcohol and other drug evidence.
The FundAssist resource can be accessed online at no charge at fundassist.flinders.edu.au or download the pdf. To enquire about NCETA’s availability to host a workshop in your state, territory or organisation, contact NCETA.
