Youth drinking trends – NDRI 2022 PhD Scholarships in Melbourne
Young people are drinking less than ever, but we don’t know whether this continues over the life-course.
Funded by the Australian Research Council, NDRI Melbourne has PhD scholarships available to help identify ways to ensure that recent declines in adolescent drinking are maintained and reinforced as these young people age.
PhD Scholars will generate new knowledge on the trajectories of youth drinking into young adulthood, changing risk and protective factors for alcohol problems, and help develop new and effective harm prevention policies and interventions. The project focuses on young people in Australia, Sweden and the UK and will involve significant collaboration with key international research teams and likely international travel.
The successful PhD candidates will join NDRI’s growing Melbourne office. Anyone with a relevant Masters or Honours degree, who is interested in a quantitative PhD on the implications of recent shifts in adolescent drinking in health and social outcomes, is encouraged to apply.
