AOD (Alcohol and Other Drugs) use is more prevalent among employees and has resulted in significant costs to Australia's society, workplaces and individuals. While most studies have assessed alcohol use within specific occupation and workplace settings, information on how other drugs have been consumed across occupations with negative productive outcomes is limited, particularly in Australia. This study aims to explore prevalence of AOD use across industries and occupations.  Additionally, the study will be assessing influences of physical and psychological aspects of employees on AOD use and whether workplace policies influence AOD consumptions and correspondingly prevent injury and reduce risks of use.

The study will utilise secondary data analysis of the NDSHS (National Drug Strategy Household Survey) between 2010 and 2019 that will provide in-depth understanding of the relationship between individual perceptions and environmental factors of AOD use across workplace settings.
