Director With-In Collective and Founder of Real Drug Talk
September 2022
In every edition of Connections, we ask someone in the alcohol and other drug sector to share a little about their work and life.

The next time I take leave I will
Head Straight to NYC with a stop-off at Hamilton Island to wind down from a manic city buzz. In reality, however, it will probably be more like day trips across the state trying to get my son to sleep on the road (wouldn't have it any other way).

I’ll never forget…
Richmond 2017 Grandfinal Win! Growing up, life was rolling into the G every week to watch the tigers and sneaking into the pub to watch all the games on Foxtel that we didn't get at home. The only problem was my team totally sucked, so it was amazing to see all that change in 2017

If I could do one thing that scares me…
Jump out of a plane, still probably wouldn't do it though because it scares the sh- out of me.

The job/project that I am most proud of…
The work we do now in our private practice. I love seeing people change. I have found working in an active service helps keep me grounded in the experiences of those accessing services and it really helps with work that I do with a research or public health lens.

My goal for the next year…
To continue helping to implement peer/ lived experiences workforce initiatives within the AOD sector.

What I’d love to tackle next…
I'd love to be a part of new and emerging digital technologies that help people to manage or "fix" substance use issues. Despite machine learning and AI stuff freaking me out, I do find some of the emerging technology very exciting and think that it can provide some cool breakthroughs for people in need.

Why I do what I do in 1 sentence…
Nothing better than seeing someone have that shift that changes their life for the better, forever.
