NDRI researchers presenting on preventing injury, homelessness

NDRI Alcohol Policy and Strategies Program Leader Professor Tanya Chikritzhs will deliver a keynote address in May as part of the Injury Prevention Summit, presenting in the Preventing Harm from Alcohol session before participating on a Q&A Panel.

Under the theme of Injury is Everyone’s Business, the Injury Prevention Summit is a biennial event hosted by Injury Matters that brings together injury prevention and safety promotion practitioners, policy makers and local governments to share knowledge and build capacity to integrate injury prevention and safety promotion practices into their work.

Research from the Birdiya Maya Homelessness Research Project will also be presented in May at the 2023 WACOSS Conference, Resilient, Strong, Brave: Collective Power of Community.

Funded by Lotterywest, the research project is led by Wungening Aboriginal Corporation in partnership with NDRI.

As part of the Community Resilience and Wellbeing session, NDRI Senior Research Officer Zainab Zaki and colleagues from Wungening will present on the Importance of Elders guiding research for Aboriginal People experiencing homelessness.

Findings from the research project will also feature in a presentation by NDRI Needs of Aboriginal Australians Program Leader Dr Jocelyn Jones and colleagues from Wungening as part of the Lowitja Institute’s International Indigenous Health and Wellbeing Conference, to be held in Cairns in June.
