Project description:

This project aims to enhance health promotion responses to young people at risk of alcohol related harm by:

  1. Generating a West Australian early warning system on risky patterns of alcohol consumption, contexts of use, influences on use, and related harms. This system will allow the tracking of changes in use and harm over time, and in response to policy and other changes;
  2. Developing a sentinel group of risky drinkers who may otherwise be difficult to recruit for focus groups. This group would evaluate existing health promotion campaigns and provide recommendations for novel responses; and
  3. Using the early warning system, focus groups and other sources to assess the impact of a range of policies and strategies that aim to prevent and reduce alcohol related harm amongst young people.
