New webinars featuring NDRI presenters available online

August 2018

NDRI researchers have recently presented two free webinars that are now available online. On 9 July Associate Professor Rebecca McKetin presented a webinar on Psychosis and other mental health effects of ice for the Cracks in the Ice webinar series.

The webinar explores the mental health effects of methamphetamine (including ‘ice’), with a particular focus on methamphetamine psychosis – what it is, how common it is, the risk factors and how it differs from schizophrenia.

This webinar is on the Cracks in the Ice website at https://cracksintheice.org.au/webinar.

On 20 June Dr Mandy Wilson and Ms Ngaire Pigram presented a webinar on Females 'behaving badly': violence, substance use and involvement in the criminal justice system for the Australian Indigenous Alcohol and Other Drugs Knowledge Centre.

The webinar describes three interconnected research projects looking at the experiences of Aboriginal girls and incarcerated women around the issues of violence, substance use and contact with the criminal justice system. The webinar aims to promote understanding of their experiences, and discusses potential strategies for enhancing physical, psychological and social well-being among these groups.

This webinar is on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7p_pJWI2qo and can also be found on the HealthInfoNet YouTube channel along with other webinars.
