Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Training

September 2016

In recognition of the link between IPV and AOD use and hospital presentations as a result of IPV, NCETA staff conducted a highly successful one-day workshop with staff at a major public teaching hospital in Adelaide. The workshop, attended by medical, nursing and allied health staff provided participants with:

  • Information on how to recognise IPV – including how to ask and what to ask of patients
  • Examples of common responses
  • A series of resources to assist them in their work.

Some of the feedback from participants included:

This workshop provided me with very useful new information and examples of skills that I can use. It went well beyond my expectations.

The workshop should be mandatory for all Emergency Department staff.

It provided me with a very thorough understanding of the issue of IPV and helped build my confidence to address this issue.
