Creating Healthy Workplaces

February 2016

NCETA has been developing an evidence based cultural model of workplace alcohol and drug use for over 10 years. In 2012, NCETA was contracted by VicHealth to develop, implement, and evaluate an intervention based on this model in selected Victorian workplaces to ascertain its efficacy in reducing AOD consumption and harms and improving worker wellbeing.

The Workplace Reduction of Alcohol Harm Project (WRAHP) was conducted in collaboration with LeeJenn Health Consultants and the City of Greater Dandenong’s South East Business Network (SEBN). The strategy:

  • Adopted an organisational and systems approach
  • Sought to reduce alcohol-related harm by delivering a whole-of-organisation change program
  • Targeted both the organisation’s working conditions and culture, and behaviour of the workforce.

The project was completed in 2015.
